Liza Caraglio, MS, LMFT

My name is Liza Caraglio and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut, and my Master’s Degree from Central Connecticut State University. I earned my MFT license in 2002 and began my private therapy practice, Bright Futures Counseling & Wellness, LLC. I currently hold licenses in Connecticut, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.
I strive to assist my clients in reaching their full potential by helping them to develop positive self-esteem and strong coping skills, and to have healthy relationships, personally and professionally. Whether you are struggling with life's everyday challenges, or more serious trauma, we can work together to provide you with the tools you need to be happy and healthy.
I work primarily with adults and older adolescents on a variety of issues including but not limited to the development of positive communication skills, dealing with marital/relationship issues and divorce, having positive parenting and co-parenting relationships, Post-partum struggles, anger management, depression, anxiety, grief/loss and self-esteem building.
I have completed the DONA Doula training. Pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum are wonderful times of life, but also pose unique challenges. I can help you to navigate this time, and have the most rewarding experience possible.
I hold a Post-Master's Certification in clinical issues in adoption. I have worked extensively with adoptive parents, children who have been adopted and adults who were adopted as children.
I am a Military One Source provider. Military life can be extremely challenging for active duty members, spouses, and children. I provide a totally confidential and safe place to discuss and manage these challenges. Please contact Military One Source to access this program. There is no connection with Tricare or military leadership.
With over 20 years of experience I have helped guide my clients with sensitivity, compassion, and a strengths-based approach to find their own inner wisdom and achieve their life goals. My style is to be a supportive and collaborative partner with my clients to help them use their own self-leadership to find creative and lasting solutions to life's challenges, which stems from my deep belief that people possess an amazing innate ability to heal and find their own answers.
I infuse what can be serious and heavy work with humor and energy, to shift out of a focus on problems, into a focus on strengths and solutions. My therapeutic style is collaborative, empowering and strength-based.
I genuinely care for my clients and it gives me great satisfaction to help them to identify and capitalize on their strengths and resiliencies, which will help them make the necessary strides to live a happier, more successful life. I work with my clients on past and present experiences which are impacting their lives negatively and standing in the way of growth.
My practice style emphasizes families and relationships. Relationships are the foundation of who we are as people. We are hard-wired to seek out connections with other human beings. Sometimes we run into difficulties in our most intimate relationships, or need help through the grieving process when a relationship ends. I work with couples, families and individuals to strengthen the positives and learn how to handle the constraints. I like to laugh, and therapy is often fun as well as work. I truly love what I do, helping people find the solutions to life's challenges.
The decision to enter a therapeutic relationship can be an intimidating one. I attempt to alleviate any anxieties you may have about taking this step and work toward gaining a clear understanding of what your goals are. You are the "expert" on your life. I will offer a collaborative voice to facilitate your own growth process. Whether faced with repeating negative patterns, a difficult life transition, or feeling overwhelmed by life's responsibilities and challenges, I will meet you where you are at.
Together, we will discuss areas of your life where you feel confident, as well as those which need attention and fine-tuning. Please contact me to discuss your therapeutic needs and together we can develop a plan for how you can reach your goals!
