Laura M. West has a passion for helping stepfamilies navigate the change that comes with the decision to remarry. This passion grew out of her own experience of divorce, remarriage, and combining a step family of seven children. Laura attended Samford University where she obtained her nursing degree. Her Masters Degree in nursing was received from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
When Laura remarried and moved with her family to Atlanta, she found it difficult to find adequate professional direction specific for her stepfamily in crisis. Nothing in Laura’s 30+ years of experience in the health care profession prepared her dealing with the complex issues of putting two households together.
She returned to school and received her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and now counsels, teaches, and coaches stepfamilies with information she wished she had when she remarried -- information that helps couples and stepfamilies protect their new unions and beat the statistics for divorce. Laura West's practice follows the Smart Step Program for families.
